What to check before you buy
- Fix the sound before the picture
- A soundbar under $250 makes more difference to a movie night than moving from 4K to 8K.
- HDMI 2.1 only matters for gaming
- You need it for 4K at 120Hz from a current console. For streaming, HDMI 2.0 is plenty.
- Check the HDR format
- Dolby Vision and HDR10+ handle bright scenes differently. Match the device to what your TV supports or you get neither.
